WECA Consultation
A consultation is currently open and seeking your views on whether North Somerset Council should join the West of England Combined Authority (WECA). WECA is currently made up of the authorities that cover Bristol City, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset.
The information and consultation response form is here:

The consultation is now closed. There will not be a public referendum on this as the Government does not require that as part of the process.
The decision to join or not will be made by the full North Somerset Council (made up of all of the District Councillors – in our case Wendy Griggs and Steve Bridger) in May 2026. If approved, the Secretary of State will also have to approve it before the joining can happen.
