This accessibility statement applies to the kingstonseymourparish.gov.uk website.
This website is primarily to convey information and allows differently abled users to use features such as: zooming the content, navigating without a mouse, changing the contrast and having the content read aloud.
This website is run by the Kingston Seymour Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- listen to most of the website using a selection reader

We have also tried to make the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is
We have achieved a very good level of accessibility throughout our website but there are some areas that are not fully accessible:
- the text in some of the tables used does not flow very well when 300% magnification is used
- the structure and purpose of a small number of the tables used may not be clear to a selection reader
- some PDFs which have been sourced from outside the Parish Council may not be accessible to a selection reader
- some older PDFs are not properly described and may not be accessible to a selection reader
- images that do not have “Alt Text” are purely decorative
NB: “Contact Us” (two forms) are the only active forms on the site. We have no other active forms, live videos or audio clips on the website.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Kingston Seymour Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.2 (external website opens in a new window) standard, due to the non compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
-
- Some text does not flow well when Zoomed to 300%
- Table structures used on the website are not fully described and their purpose may not be clear to a selection reader
- Older News Posts may not have links to other sites and documents described properly
- Directory items may not have links to other sites and documents described properly
- Some externally sourced PDFs do not give access to selection readers
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We are working to correct any failing links or pages
Disproportionate burden – Navigation and accessing information
Certain older PDFs that were sourced from outside parties and are shown in the public interest, do not support selection reader technology so is contrary to requirement 3.1.2. We do not propose to require these third parties to change their PDFs and we have no way of converting the documents.
We’ve assessed the cost of fixing all of the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with interactive tools and transactions. We believe that doing so now would be a Disproportionate Burden (link to Government website that will open in a new window) within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to address any issues with Council Meeting Minutes before that date.
We try to ensure that any new PDFs we publish will meet accessibility standards.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are undertaking an ongoing review of our website to ensure that revised and new content is fully accessible.
