Historical Society – The Real Cost of Oil – The loss of the Piper Alpha
Speaker: Paul Barnett We welcome Paul again to start off this seasons talks. The Piper Alpha exploded and collapsed in the night between 6th and 7th July 1988, with the loss of 167 lives. At the time of the disaster, the platform was the world’s single largest oil producer.
