Voter ID needed for all future elections
There will be a Parish and District Council election on the 4th May 2023 and in order to be able to vote at this election – and any and every future election – you will now need to have Voter ID before you are issued with a voting slip. This is because of legislation put in place in 2022.
Voter ID can be your: passport, photo driving licence, blue badge, defence identity card and a few other items.
The detailed list can be checked at Link to Voter ID detail (a new window will open) or call their Helpline on 0800 328 0280.
If you don’t and won’t have an acceptable form of Voter ID, it is possible to obtain a free voter ID document – to be known as a Voter Authority Certificate. Another website I’m afraid Link to Voter Authority Certificate site (opens in anew tab)-post-if-youre-living-in-the-uk Once you have this you will be covered for future elections.
Finally, you may find it convenient to have a Postal Vote instead. There’s a form for this too (!) Link to Postal Vote information (opens in a new tab) Once you have completed the standard Government form it has to be sent to the Town Hall at Weston.
