Sea Defence Repairs
We have been advised by the Environment Agency that they are repairing 200 metres of sea defences near where the Pier to Pier route reaches the coast. The part of the route between Dowlais corner and the coast WILL BE CLOSED for the duration of the work. All of the necessary permissions have been obtained.
The work will start on Monday 27th October and will complete in early December and involves the placement of 1500 tonnes of rock armour onto the foreshore. The material will be brought by lorry from a quarry in Cheddar and the route they have been granted is via Strode Road and Lower Strode Road. These roads will remain open for all other users but you may encounter large tipper lorries at certain times of the day. There will be about 75 loaded lorry journeys across the period.
