School Admissions and Transfers 2024
Information from NSC
If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, they are due to start school for the first time in September 2024. You must make an application for them to start school.
Is your child currently in Year 2 at an Infant School, Year 4 at a First School, Year 6 at a Primary School or Year 8 at a Middle School? If so, you must make an application for them to apply to transfer to next phase.
Applications can be made online at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/admissions

Start school in Reception for the first time
OR
Transfer from Infant to Junior School
OR
Transfer from First to Middle School* 12 September 2023 15 January 2024
Transfer to Secondary school in Year 7
OR
Transfer from Middle to Upper school*
OR
Transfer to a UTC/Free school 12 September 2023 31 October 2023
*If you live in North Somerset, but your child attends a school in another Local Authority, you need to apply to North Somerset.
Parents can name up to three preferences and may apply for schools both within and outside North Somerset. Parents are strongly advised to read the parent guides which explain the application process in more detail, including how to use our admissions system. If you do not apply by the deadline, it is highly likely that you will miss out on a place at your chosen school.
