The Open Spaces, Natural Environment and Leisure Team of NSC, is proud to support this important initiative, co-ordinated by the University of Bath’s Bat Conservation Research Lab and made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The project aims to collect vital data on local bat populations, their movements, and habitats. This information will be used to inform future development decisions and ensure the long-term protection of these fascinating nocturnal mammals.
This is a citizen science project, and we need the help of local volunteers to make it a success. Participants will monitor bat species across the area, including internationally protected species like the greater and lesser horseshoe bats. The data collected will feed directly into leading research and conservation efforts.
You can find more details, including a map showing priority areas (highlighted in blue or green) where data is especially needed on the website above
