Become a Master Composter!

NSC launched a project recently that aims to increase the rate of home composting in North Somerset.

The project is called Master Composters and it involves working towards setting up a network of volunteers throughout the district that teach their friends, family and neighbours about composting by attending events, giving talks etc.

NSC launched the project with a firm called Garden Organic and we have a dedicated volunteer coordinator working with the volunteers. We invest in the volunteers providing training, resources, paying expenses, organising socials as well as free membership to Garden Organic. In return we ask that volunteers commit a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer work per year. This work is organised both by Kate (the volunteer co-ordinator) and the volunteers themselves.

We held our first training session back in April and they now have 8 volunteers attending events throughout the district. The next training session is on the 19^th July so we are looking for more volunteers.
