The Wildlife Interest Group was formed in response to requests from village residents during the Parish Plan process.
The Parish Plan questionnaire indicated a strong attachment to and interest in the local environment. The “peace and quiet” and the fact that the village is surrounded by open countryside with wide views, were ranked as “important” or “very important” by 89% and 94% of residents respectively. More than 80% of Kingston Seymour residents actively encourage wildlife into their gardens. Many villagers would like to see more or enhanced conservation areas, and to know and understand more about the diversity of plants, birds and other animals on their doorstep.
We hold seasonal activities focussed on the wildlife and habitat of our local area with a programme of illustrated talks and guided walks, together with practical projects aimed at enhancing the environment.
We’re very keen to use local expertise to share knowledge and understanding
